Are there class levels? What if I can’t do everything in the class? I haven’t worked out in a while.
Our classes are designed to accommodate every level, from beginners to serious riders. Each bike’s console allows you to set a precise resistance so you know exactly what you can handle. Push forward when you are ready, recover when you need. Our 45 minute classes are a perfect place to begin your cycling experience. This is your journey. We encourage you to listen to your body’s needs.
How do I know if I’m improving/how do I track my performance over time?
A personalized performance summary is recorded after each class and synced to your online dashboard. Along with tracking individual performance measures like Distance, Resistance, RPM, and Calories, an overall score lets you track your progress over time. See real, metrics-based improvements after each workout then share your performance with friends to ramp up the motivation.
How old do you have to be to ride at IMAXShift®?
The minimum age is 13 years old. Anyone under 18 will require a parent or guardian’s signature to register for classes.
Wait, is this an IMAX® movie theater?
Close, but this is no seated theater. IMAXShift® takes the immersive and electrifying aspects of IMAX® and pairs them with top instructors to create a revolutionary fitness experience. Get your workout gear on and leave the popcorn behind when you come visit IMAXShift®.
What if I want to capture the epic visuals at IMAXShift®?
We know it’s tempting to take a cycling selfie. To ensure a truly immersive experience, we ask that you not bring any smartphones, tablets, selfie sticks and GoPros® into the studio. If you need to be in touch with someone, please leave your device with the front desk and we will take care of you.
Do I have to buy a package or a membership?
Nope! Visit our Buy Rides page to purchase individual classes.
When can I sign up for classes?
You can sign up for classes as early as 10AM EST on Mondays. IMAXShift® Monthly Members will be able to book as early as 10AM EST on Sundays.
How far in advance do I have to cancel a class to avoid penalty?
We ask that you cancel 12 hours before your scheduled class so your bike will be available for other members to reserve. The class credit for successful cancellations will be returned to your account. If you fail to cancel within 12 hours, you will forfeit your class credit.
I purchased a First Time Rider package, how do I take advantage my complementary 2nd ride?
The First Time Rider package gives new riders a chance to experience two Journeys for the price of one. Upon purchase, your personal account will reflect two rides. The second ride cannot be transferred or used for another person in the same class.
What happens if I fail to show up for a class I’ve reserved?
We hope you’re able to make it! If you don’t cancel your reservation before the 12 hour cancellation deadline you will forfeit the class credit, or if you are a monthly member, you will be charged $25.
How will I know if I have gotten into a class and off a wait list?
If spaces open up, we will email/text those on the waiting list according to their place in line. Text back/email/call to confirm your reservation and we will add you to the class. Please respond within 15 minutes, or the spot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.
What is your retail return policy?
Merchandise that is unused, tagged and in the original condition will be eligible for return within 30 days of purchase with receipt. We reserve the right to refuse return on any product that appears to be worn, washed, or damaged.
Do I need to create an account?
Registering for an account is essential for getting the most out of your IMAXShift® experience. You will be able to reserve your favorite classes, view and track your physical performance, earn credits, and share your results via email and social media.
Do you have locker rooms?
Yes! Our modern locker rooms include lockers, and showers with Redken bath products and fresh towels.
Do you provide water or should I bring my own?
Our facilities are equipped with water fountains for you to fill your water bottles at any time. Water is available for purchase, though we encourage you to bring your own reusable bottle and help us limit our impact on the environment.
Do I need to buy my own indoor cycling shoes?
We provide complementary shoes at the studio available for you to use. You are also welcome to bring your own. Any indoor cycling shoes that use SPD and Delta clips will work.
How do I adjust the bike for my body?
Your body position on the bike is very important to optimize your workout and ensure that you are not causing pain or discomfort. Our bike seats are adjustable both vertically and horizontally, with hip-level being the ideal height. Adjusting the handlebars may be helpful as well. If in doubt, our instructors and staff are happy to help get you set up before class begins.
How early should I come?
We recommend arriving at the studio 15 minutes before the start of your class so you have time to prepare yourself and adjust your bike. If you’re unsure about how to properly set up your bike, our instructors and staff will show you the ideal adjustment for your body. Please note, in fairness to all our riders, bikes will be released four minutes before class begins. For riders running late, we ask that you call the studio no later than five minutes before your scheduled class to let us know you are on the way. The front desk will hold a reservation for up to 5 minutes after class begins though we cannot guarantee you will be given the bike you signed up for. Riders who are more than 5 minutes late will not be admitted into class as it is too disruptive.
What do I need to wear?
Clothing that is comfortable, flexible and breathable is best. Please do not wear denim or anything restrictive, nor anything baggy that can get caught on the bike.
How can I track my performance in class?
Each bike is fitted with a personal console that displays your current speed, torque, resistance and power output. After each class, you’ll receive a summary email of your performance which will also synch automatically with your on-line dashboard to let you track and set new goals as well as share your success on social media.
Can I wear a heart rate monitor?
Absolutely! Heart rate monitors and fitness accessories are welcome, as long as they aren’t distracting or wouldn’t hinder your movements.
How does it work when I get there?
• Check in at the front desk and get your shoes (you can also bring your own). Our friendly front-desk concierge can also tell you which bike you have reserved.
• Head to the locker room or take advantage of one of our lockers in the plaza and leave your belongings like purses, workout bags, phones and street shoes.
• Grab a towel and fill your water bottle on the way to the studio.
• In the studio, find your bike number.
• Make sure to adjust your bike to fit your body. Our instructors and staff are always available to make sure that your bike is perfectly calibrated. Normally, the seat height should be as high as your hip, and such that your legs don’t extend all the way when cycling, to avoid stressing your knees.
• Get settled in and prepare to transport your mind while you transform your body. Enjoy the journey!
